About The Position

This position is for a Mental Health Professional II/Team Lead for the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Program, focused on providing evidence-based services in an intensive non-residential treatment and rehabilitative setting. The role involves single point of responsibility for treatment, rehabilitation, and support needs for patients with Serious Mental Illness who require higher levels of community care. The position is considered essential and may be called back during crises or emergencies. The role is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health, Waccamaw Center Mental Health, Conway, SC. This position may be eligible for OMH Student Loan Repayment.

Requirements

  • A master's degree in guidance, counseling or the social sciences or a related field.
  • Professional experience in a mental health, human service or social services program.
  • Three (3) years' experience working with adults diagnosed with serious and persistent mental illness.
  • A minimum of two years post graduate experience.
  • Supervisory experience in a mental health setting is required.
  • Must be a licensed psychologist, LISW-CP, LPC or LMFT with the state of South Carolina.
  • Must be able to meet OMH credentialing requirements which include specific graduate coursework including Psychopathology Course, Psychopathology Diagnostic Course, Clinical Assessment – Practice with Family Therapy (DSM) – or any related assessment course and Ethics Course – related to the medical profession.
  • Must be able to show evidence of clinical experience providing direct patient care (documented as practicum, internship or post-graduate experience).
  • Ability to lift up to five (5) pounds.
  • Ability to see, hear at a normal volume, stand, walk, bend, stoop and climb at least two (2) flights of stairs.
  • Practical therapeutic knowledge of principles, methods, and counseling practices/procedures for the diagnosis and treatment of serious and persistent mental illness.
  • Ability to listen, understand and communicate information and ideas so that others will understand.
  • Knowledge of psychopathology, family dynamics and family/group psychotherapy.
  • Must be able to identify and effectively utilize resources available in the community to accomplish objectives.
  • High degree of working independently and being self-motivated is expected.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the administrative operation of the team.
  • Provide clinical oversight of services ensuring patients are seen in accordance with their needs and the delivery of best and ethical practices.
  • Provide direct services to ACT (Assertive Community Treatment) service beneficiaries.
  • Ensure all services are documented in accordance with BHDD/QA requirements.
  • Provide direct supervision to ACT team members, including facilitating clinical supervisor meetings, treatment team meetings, coordination training for the team, and completing evaluations.
  • Maintain a department commitment to cultural affairs and ensure all direct reports have a cultural affairs component in their EPMS planning document as a measurable objective.
  • Comply with Corporate Compliance Policy and Risk Management Plan and certify completion of prior authorizations.
  • Pursue professional development through collegial consultation, continuing education, and licensure.
  • Present clear and comprehensive oral and written reports to co-workers and others.
  • Provide 10-year DMV Driving Record.
  • Use a state vehicle for work-related purposes.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals, families, and representatives of other professional disciplines.
