About The Position

This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health, Charleston Dorchester Mental Health Center, 2100 Charlie Hall Blvd, Charleston, SC 29414. Under general supervision, as the Mental Health Professional I for Adult Services, you will provide mental health counseling and case management services to adult patients open to the Charleston Dorchester Mental Health Center. Services to be provided in the clinics and community settings.

Requirements

  • A master’s degree in guidance, counseling, the social sciences or a related field.
  • A master's or doctorate degree from an accredited program, university, or college in psychology, social work, counseling, marriage and family counseling or other behavioral discipline deemed equivalent by BHDD - Office of Mental Health.
  • To be credentialed for core services as a Mental Health Professional at the SC Office of Mental Health, this experience may be documented as a practicum or internship during graduate program, or post-graduate clinical experience.
  • Working knowledge of Mental Health legal principles and practices, of methods, principles and practices of clinical counseling and educational services.
  • Considerable knowledge of psychopathology and patient management in psychiatric settings.
  • Working knowledge of basic health and welfare services provided by other agencies.
  • Ability to effectively plan, coordinate and manage complex treatment and to the ability to conduct detailed investigations, draw conclusions and recommend required actions.

  • Provide all forms of direct services as credentialed by the Center in an efficient manner as evidenced by meeting the established productivity expectation.
  • Produce documentation that is reflective of the quality care expected of this position.
  • Demonstrate recognition of importance of collaboration and teamwork within the Center and the community.
  • Ensure patient functionality is measured according to established standard.
  • Retain overall responsibility for meeting Quality Assurance standards.
  • Ensure timely response to request for services.
  • Comply with all OMH/CDMHC, policies and protocols, applicable QI, Corporate Compliance, Cultural Competency and CARF policies and procedures and Federal and State rules and regulations and attends all trainings classified mandatory by Federal and State regulations and Center policy.
