This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health, Charleston Dorchester Mental Health Center (CDMHC), Dorchester Clinic 106 Springview Lane Summerville SC 29485. Under general supervision, the Adult Clinician will provide assessments, consultation, crisis Intervention, and short term case management services for patients being discharged from local hospitals or from the community at large. Provide timely access to outpatient mental health services and to divert hospitalizations and/or incarcerations.

Requirements

• A master's or doctorate degree from an accredited program, university, or college in psychology, social work, counseling, marriage and family counseling or other behavioral discipline deemed equivalent by SCBHDD.
• To be credentialed for core services as a Mental Health Professional at the SC Office of Mental Health, this experience may be documented as a practicum or internship during graduate program, or post-graduate clinical experience.
• Ability to bend, stoop, climb, drive from location to location, lift and file.
• Ability to work the on-call requirement of an essential position, which means staff may be required to work during weather-related or other emergencies.
• Working knowledge of Mental Health legal principles and practices, of methods, principles and practices of clinical counseling and educational services.
• Considerable knowledge of psychopathology and patient management in psychiatric settings.
• Working knowledge of basic health and welfare services provided by other agencies.
• Able to effectively plan, coordinate and manage complex treatment and to the ability to conduct detailed investigations, draw conclusions and recommend required actions.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality person-centered care as demonstrated by the use of evidence-based clinical intervention.
• Provide all forms of direct services as credentialed by the Center in an efficient manner as evidenced by meeting the established productivity expectation.
• Provide advanced triage, screening for emergencies and for patients seeking routine intake appointments.
• Provide advanced community assessments, crisis interventions to people in psychiatric distress.
• Conduct screening for probate court applicants.
• Conduct advanced initial assessments, formulate dispositions with patients and connects patients to treatment.
• Collect, organize, and record data and information for medical records in accordance with QI guidelines that is reflective of quality of patient care.
• Attend all trainings classified mandatory by Federal and State regulations and Center policy.
