About The Position

The Mental Health Clinician delivers comprehensive, evidence-based, and trauma-informed therapeutic services to diverse individuals, families, and groups facing emotional, behavioral, or psychological challenges. This role is responsible for conducting clinical assessments, developing targeted treatment plans, facilitating individual and group sessions, and providing crisis intervention and risk management. Additionally, the Clinician oversees clinical interns, collaborates with multidisciplinary teams and community partners to optimize client outcomes, and ensures strict compliance with organizational, ethical, and HIPAA standards—including meticulous clinical documentation and productivity reporting. The ideal candidate demonstrates a high degree of professionalism, dependability, and flexibility, maintains active professional liability insurance, and possesses a valid driver's license.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a closely related behavioral health field from an accredited institution with two (2) years of clinical experience.
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Must have one of the following: Licensed Master’s Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Medical Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of TN
  • Knowledge of mental health assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning consistent with DSM-5-TR criteria.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based therapeutic modalities (e.g., CBT, DBT, trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing).
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention, suicide risk assessment, and safety planning techniques.
  • Knowledge of ethical standards, professional boundaries, and applicable federal, state, and local laws governing mental health practice.
  • Knowledge of confidentiality requirements, including HIPAA and mandated reporting obligations.
  • Knowledge of community resources, referral processes, and levels of care within the behavioral health system.
  • Knowledge of cultural humility, diversity, equity, and inclusion principles as applied to clinical practice.
  • Skill in conducting comprehensive clinical assessments and developing individualized treatment plans.
  • Skill in delivering effective individual, family, and group therapy interventions.
  • Skill in building therapeutic rapport and maintaining professional relationships with clients and families.
  • Skill in crisis de-escalation and clinical decision-making under pressure.
  • Skill in maintaining accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation.
  • Skill in oral and written communications, as well as professional presentations.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and risk assessments for assigned clients.
  • Develop, implement, and regularly update individualized treatment plans in collaboration with clients and, when appropriate, families or caregivers.
  • Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions to individuals, families, and groups in accordance with professional standards and best practices.
  • Monitor client progress, evaluate treatment effectiveness, and adjust interventions as clinically indicated.
  • Provide crisis intervention services, including safety planning, de-escalation, and coordination with emergency or higher-level care when necessary.
  • Maintain timely, accurate, and confidential clinical documentation in compliance with agency policies, ethical guidelines, and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, supervisors, and community partners to ensure coordinated and comprehensive client care.
  • Educate clients and families on mental health conditions, coping strategies, and available community resources.
  • Comply with all professional, ethical, licensing, and regulatory requirements, including mandatory reporting obligations.
  • Participate in clinical supervision, case consultations, staff meetings, training, and continuing education activities.
  • Use electronic health record systems and other clinical software to document services and manage caseloads.
  • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and uphold client rights, dignity, and cultural responsiveness.
  • Must meet regular attendance requirements.
  • Must be able to maintain good interpersonal relationships with staff, co-workers, managers, and citizens.
  • Must accomplish the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations, in a timely manner.
