About The Position

Provides professional mental health services to Veterans and their families by delivering emergency crisis intervention, leading a team that provides screening assessments, developing individualized suicide prevention services plans, maintaining documentation, organizing support groups, and supporting client safety, healing, and overall well-being in alignment with agency standards and ethical guidelines.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in counseling or social work
  • One year of supervision experience
  • Flexibility to work non-traditional business hours
  • Knowledge of Community Resources
  • Verbal and written communications skills, including the ability to record with clarity and promptness
  • Good listening skills and the ability to ask appropriate questions
  • Ability to maintain poise, control and effectiveness in providing services to clients even under extreme stress and unexpected crises
  • Appropriately assertive even in difficult situations
  • Must demonstrate mature and objective, non-judgmental behaviors
  • Ability to assess situations both within and outside the client system and determine priorities
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with clients from various cultural, ethnic and racial backgrounds

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct services by Providing individual crisis intervention to Veterans and/or their families
  • Organizing and/or conduction Veteran/Veteran family support groups
  • Coordinating and providing educational and training opportunities for other community professionals and the public
  • Leading a team that provides screening assessments to eligible Veterans
  • Developing individualized suicide prevention service plans
  • Maintains accurate and complete records for each client by Gathering and documenting necessary demographic and personal information
  • Ensuring that all necessary paperwork is signed by clients and by staff where appropriate
  • Completing session reports for each session
  • Documenting all contacts with or activities on behalf of each client, including individual sessions, group sessions, cancellations and no-shows, advocacy, referrals and phone contacts
  • Ensuring all staff members of the team are incompliance with above
  • Develop a competent, productive, and satisfied professional staff by Supervising directly and through delegations; Hiring, transferring, promoting, demoting, disciplining, and terminating; Appraising performance; Providing educational and experiential growth opportunities;
  • Assures quality services and program efficiency and effectiveness by Developing and evaluating program inputs, activities, outputs, outcomes and indicators; Enforcing rules, regulations, and legal requirements; and Reviewing, monitoring and recommending changes to current and projected program and agency policies, procedures, practices, standards and operations
  • Maintains client confidence and agency integrity by Keeping information confidential
  • Adhering to all ethical guidelines set forth in the Code of Conduct published by the Louisiana Licensed Professional Counselors Board of Examiners or the State Board of Social Work Examiners
  • Assures quality services and program efficiency and effectiveness by Complying with appropriate program standards and guidelines
  • Completing required agency and funder paperwork in a timely and accurate manner
  • Maintains effective agency operations by Complying with agency procedures, rules and regulations
  • Maintains safety of clients and staff at all times by Assessing lethality of individual client situations
  • Developing and reviewing safety plans with clients
  • Coordinating and cooperating with law enforcement or other authorities as needed
  • Contributes to team efforts by Communicating effectively
