About The Position

The Mental Health Peer Support Specialist will use relevant personal stories to teach through experience, serve as a role model for clients, and encourage client voice and choice during the development and implementation of treatment planning. This role supports clients while they receive mental health services, empowers them to be self-advocates, and helps them enhance relationships with community partners. The position is funded by requirements for 908KAR2:220 and Medicaid.

Requirements

• Be a self-identified person with a history of mental illness, who has received treatment.
• High School/GED peer support certification or complete peer support training upon hire approved by Department of Behavioral Health.
