About The Position

Pathways to Wellness is a psychiatric practice located in Cordova and in Clarksville TN. We are seeking to find a compassionate and skilled Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our dynamic team in an outpatient behavioral health clinic offering both in-person and telehealth appointments. The Mental Health NP will provide psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, treatment planning, medication management, and therapeutic interventions for patients dealing with various mental health conditions. The role requires strong clinical expertise, adherence to legal and ethical standards, and an ability to foster positive relationships with patients and their families. This position is essential in ensuring high-quality mental health services and contributing to a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or higher in Nursing with a focus on Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).
  • Current, active Nurse Practitioner license in the state.
  • Board certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC or PMHNP-C) required.
  • Unrestricted DEA; Active malpractice insurance.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a psychiatric/mental health outpatient setting.
  • Strong diagnostic and clinical assessment skills.
  • Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and experience in maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Empathy, patience, and a non-judgmental approach to patient care.
  • Knowledge of coding and clinical record documentation to adhere to all insurance, state and federal guidelines.
  • Microsoft Word, Excel

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with both medication management and therapy is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, diagnose mental health disorders, and develop individualized treatment plans for patients.
  • Prescribe and monitor psychiatric medications, including antidepressants, antipsychotics, mood stabilizers, and anxiolytics.
  • Provide psychotherapy (e.g., Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy) and other therapeutic modalities within the scope of practice.
  • Maintain thorough, timely, and accurate documentation of patient assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, medication management, and other relevant medical records in the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system.
  • Adhere to the clinic's scheduling policies, ensuring timely arrival for scheduled appointments.
  • Ensure all patient interactions, records, and communications comply with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other confidentiality laws.
  • Work closely with other healthcare providers, including physicians, social workers, and therapists, to develop and implement a coordinated care plan for each patient.
  • Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, medication adherence, and self-care strategies.
  • Stay current with mental health trends, research, and best practices.
  • Provide crisis intervention when necessary, including managing emergency situations related to suicidal ideation, aggression, and acute mental health crises.
