About The Position

NCSS is seeking a Mental Health Crisis Specialist to join an exciting initiative focused on integrating mental health support into law enforcement responses. In this unique role, you’ll co-respond with the St. Albans Police Department to support individuals experiencing a mental health crisis and help connect them with the right resources and services. This is a 20-hour-per-week, part-time position ideal for someone with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree and relevant clinical or behavioral health experience who is comfortable working with people from all walks of life.

Responsibilities

  • Co-respond with law enforcement to individuals experiencing mental health or other behavioral health crises
  • Build connections quickly with individuals who may be experiencing significant challenges
  • Provide supportive counseling and crisis intervention
  • Help individuals navigate mental health, healthcare, and other community systems
  • Coordinate care with community providers and other support services
  • Track and document data related to co-responses
  • Collaborate closely with the NCSS Emergency Services Team and teams throughout the agency
  • Work some non-traditional hours, primarily evenings and occasional weekends
