Key Position Details: Pre-licensed clinicians are welcome to apply with appropriate pre-license below: Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) Licensed Graduate Social Worker (LGSW) Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) Minimum work requirements of working three (10-hour) shifts/month. This includes occasional night shifts OR must be open to every other weekend rotation.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or other mental health profession
  • 2+ years experience in a behavioral health setting
  • Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker - MN Board of Social Work required upon hire or Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist - MN Board of Marriage and Family Therapy required upon hire or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor - MN Board of Behavioral Health & Therapy required upon hire or Licensed Psychologist-MN Board of Psychology required upon hire

Nice To Haves

  • Direct clinical experience in a hospital, mental health, or clinic setting
  • 1 year crisis management skills in hospital, clinic, or managed care setting

Responsibilities

  • Assist emergency room team, in a consultant role to provide clinical care, evaluation and disposition recommendation to patients and families presenting to the emergency room in mental health or substance abuse crisis.
  • Provides written recommendation for level of care and coordinates placement, plan and/or referral as needed.
  • Uses organizational admission criteria for decision making and communicates/coordinates disposition recommendation with treatment and community teams.
  • Conduct face-to-face, in person or virtual (telehealth) consultation with patients in crisis/psychiatric emergencies.
  • Assess clinical condition.
  • Recommend appropriate level of clinical care.
  • Collaborates with community care team and caregivers to provide patient-centered recommendation.
  • Provides ongoing reassessment and crisis intervention while patient remains in the emergency room.
  • Coordinates with placement team and/or community partners to support disposition recommendation.
  • Referrals of patients to outpatient services either within or outside the system.
  • Remains up to date with current resources and patient access referrals within the system and in the community.
  • Enter and track required data.
  • Provide strong documentation of collateral contacts, guardians/power of attorneys and other caregivers relevant to the patient presentation.
  • Note disposition of case providing clear rationale for recommendations.
  • Follow necessary guidelines for documentation of discharge plans.
