About The Position

Third Way Center is seeking full-time mental health counselors to work as members of a multidisciplinary treatment team at one of our residential facilities, working with high-risk youth ages 13-20. We are looking for creative and dynamic individuals who enjoy challenges and seek to learn and better themselves professionally and personally. Our mission is to provide a continuum of services in a home-like environment where at-risk youth can work through their traumas, learn to take responsibility for their actions and lives, and become productive members of society. Our Mental Health Counselors (MHCs) are active members of the treatment team, carrying out programmatic goals and working with youth on their individual treatment goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in social work or related field.
  • Can substitute two years of experience for educational requirements.
  • Current valid Colorado driver's license.
  • Clean driving record (no DUI/DWAI in the last five years).
  • Clean criminal record.
  • At least 22 years of age.
  • Ability to obtain QMAP certification.
  • Ability to obtain CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Pass an extensive background and DMV check.
  • Pass a Federal Drug Screening.
  • Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19.

Responsibilities

  • Engage actively in the milieu and monitor residents on a continual basis.
  • Guide residents in daily living activities and schedules.
  • Maintain an ongoing understanding of the state of the milieu.
  • Recognize that behaviors are clues to ensure program safety.
  • Provide counseling and crisis intervention when needed.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings and weekly supervision meetings with a primary therapist.
  • Seek guidance from and maintain ongoing communication with therapists, treatment leaders, and senior staff.
  • Document daily progress notes.
  • Assist with the residents' intake process.
  • Set up new files and maintain ongoing organization of existing files.
  • Assist with tracking and medication management and documentation.
  • Perform household duties including grocery shopping with residents.
  • Assist with and model completion of chores.
  • Transport residents to and from school and other appointments.
  • Communicate constantly as part of a team to ensure the program runs smoothly and safely.
