About The Position

Seattle Pacific University is seeking a part-time Mental Health Counselor / Clinical Supervisor to join the Student Counseling Center (SCC) for the 2026–27 academic year. This position averages 20 hours per week and participates in a wide range of SCC activities, providing direct therapy services to undergraduate students and clinical supervision to professional interns and externs. The Clinical Supervisor is an integral member of the Clinical Supervisors Team, contributing to SCC problem solving, decision-making, and planning. This role also coordinates and presents co-curricular programming focused on mental health and relationships, attends Office of Student Life and SPU events as required, and ensures compliance with University policies, state and federal laws, and professional ethics.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in marriage and family therapy, mental health counseling, social work, or a doctorate in clinical psychology.
  • At least four years of post-graduate clinical experience.
  • Licensed in Washington State as an LMFT, LMHC, LICSW, or Clinical Psychologist for at least two years.
  • Must be a WA State Approved Supervisor (including Supervisors Training and 25 hours of supervision experience) or willing to complete within the first year of employment.
  • A personal commitment to Christian faith, enthusiasm about supporting SPU's mission, alignment with the University's Statement of Faith, and a willingness to accept the lifestyle standards of the Christian community.
  • Experience with Medicat (or comparable EHR software) and Microsoft Outlook.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in marriage and family therapy.
  • Experience working with college student populations.
  • At least 25+ hours of clinical supervision experience.
  • Licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist.
  • AAMFT Approved Supervisor, in process, or willing to begin the process.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical supervision to interns, externs, or staff.
  • Conduct counseling assessments and provide appropriate referral services.
  • Deliver crisis intervention services to students in need.
  • Provide individual, couple, family, and group counseling services.
  • Attend and participate in supervision, SCC staff meetings, and trainings.
  • Assume responsibility for assigned SCC programs or program elements.
  • Participate in Office of Student Life, SCC, and SPU events as expected.
  • Contribute to co-curricular programming and community activities focused on mental health and relationships.
  • Collaborate as part of the Clinical Supervisors Team in consultations, planning, and decision-making.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
