About The Position

This is a part-time fully remote position 3 days (15 hours) a week 9:00am-2:00pm Candidates must be based in Los Angeles County, California. Supporting quality behavioral healthcare through excellent service and coordination. Eisner Health is seeking a bilingual, detail-oriented Mental Health Coordinator to support scheduling and daily operations for our Behavioral Health team. This part-time role is responsible for coordinating patient appointments, managing a high volume of telephone calls, maintaining accurate patient records, and facilitating communication between patients and clinical staff. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, and committed to providing professional, courteous service in a fast-paced healthcare environment. About Eisner Health Since 1920, Eisner Health has been a quality-focused, nonprofit community health center dedicated to improving the physical, social, and emotional well-being of individuals and families throughout Los Angeles County. As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), we provide comprehensive, culturally responsive care across every stage of life. Our services include primary care, pediatrics, women's health, behavioral health, dental, optometry, dermatology, pharmacy, laboratory services, and care coordination. Position Overview The Mental Health Coordinator supports the daily administrative operations of the Behavioral Health department, with a primary focus on appointment scheduling, telephone operations, and patient communication. As a key point of contact for patients and clinical staff, this position helps maintain efficient scheduling workflows, accurate records, and timely communication. The successful candidate will be comfortable managing multiple priorities while maintaining a high standard of customer service.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Proficiency in English and Spanish.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with computers, multi-button telephone systems, and standard office equipment.
  • Excellent telephone communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to learn the Center's computer and telephone systems within one month of hire.
  • Ability to learn appointment scheduling and telephone operator procedures within three months of cross-training.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and adapt to the operational needs of different sites.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using athenahealth (athena) or a similar electronic health record or practice management system.
  • Previous experience in healthcare administration, medical office scheduling, patient services, or a high-volume call center.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule behavioral health appointments and provide accurate, timely reminders, including appointment dates, times, and provider names.
  • Manage a high volume of incoming calls, respond to routine inquiries, and direct calls appropriately.
  • Forward messages to Behavioral Health clinical staff or the Behavioral Health Intake Specialist for triage.
  • Maintain accurate patient demographic information and update records in the electronic health record and other computer systems.
  • Respond to scheduling requests and provide clear, accurate information regarding appointments.
  • Communicate appointment changes and scheduling updates to clinical staff in a timely manner.
  • Provide courteous, professional, and respectful service to patients, visitors, and colleagues, both in person and by telephone.
  • Maintain an organized workspace and support departmental operations, including adapting to workflows across different sites.
