About The Position

Dungarvin is a mission-driven team dedicated to providing person-centered supports to individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities or other complex medical needs, enabling them to live as independently as possible. Established in 1976, the organization operates in 15 states, focusing on respect, response, and choice. This role involves working directly with individuals, providing hands-on care, supporting mental health and behavioral management, creating a safe environment, mentoring, and assisting with household management.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience in delivery of significant behavioral health services.
  • Ability to demonstrate de-escalation techniques, conflict resolution, positive support methods and person-centered approach.
  • At least 1 year of lead staff experience in residential services or a two-year degree in a related field.
  • Ability to understand and implement behavior support plans (BSP), treatment plans, functional assessments, individualized support plans (ISP), and person-centered plans.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Passion for Helping Others: Experience with mental health conditions (e.g., bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, depression, anxiety).
  • Physical stamina to stay on your feet, walk, stand, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Basic computer skills for tracking progress and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Hands-On Care: Assist individuals with daily activities like personal care, meal prep, and transportation, all while fostering independence.
  • Support Mental Health & Behavioral Management: Utilize skills to help individuals overcome behavioral challenges, offering compassionate, person-centered care, and working on tailored outcomes and behavioral guidance plans.
  • Create a Safe & Welcoming Environment: Maintain a clean, safe space that ensures comfort and support while helping individuals reach their personal goals.
  • Mentor & Guide: Provide supervision, positive reinforcement, and guidance to help individuals achieve their aspirations, assist with staff scheduling, and maintain consistency in programming, individual care, and communication with staff and support team members.
  • Household Management: Coordinate a variety of services including individual finances, activities, program services, family involvement, educational/vocational programs, health care/nutrition and household management.
