Mental Health Clinician (MHC) - Ney Unit

About The Position

The Mental Health Clinician provides mental health evaluation and therapeutic intervention to patients in a correctional setting. The role contributes to UTMB Correctional Managed Care, whose mission is to address healthcare needs of underserved populations within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and the Texas Juvenile Justice Department. The clinician works under the supervision of a Psychologist, Mental Health Manager, and/or Program Director. The position is located within a prison, jail, or juvenile detention center. Security clearance and pre-employment drug testing are required. Salary is commensurate with years of relevant work experience.

Requirements

Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
Licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Professional Counselor, Psychological Associate, or Social Worker.
Security clearance is required.
Pre-employment drug testing is required.

Responsibilities

Interview, evaluate, and diagnose patients identified as having mental health needs.
Provide individual and group psychotherapy and crisis intervention.
Develop, implement, and review Individual Treatment Plans.
Assist with training and education of mental health, medical, and other staff.
Assist in implementing Quality Improvement/Quality Management programs and monitoring compliance with required policies, procedures, and standards.
Consult and communicate routinely with a supervisor and/or attending psychiatric provider regarding assigned patients.
Complete clinically appropriate and timely documentation.
Coordinate current treatment and facilitate aftercare services by liaising with patients, patient families, on-site departments, and community agencies.
Adhere to the department's internal controls and reporting structure.
Perform related duties as required.
