Requirements
- Current Certificate of Registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) required; Master’s degree preferred.
- CNA certification in Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing required
- Minimum 5–6 years of experience in Mental Health Nursing, including work with severely and persistently mentally ill populations.
- Strong working knowledge of psychiatric disorders, psychotropic medications, CTOs, Clozapine protocols (including CSAN), and ECT procedures.
- Proficiency in biopsychosocial assessments, crisis intervention, and care planning.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Familiarity with mental health legislation, including the Mental Health Act, Health Care Consent Act, Substitute Decisions Act, and Privacy legislation.
- Case management experience and knowledge of community resources.
- Advanced de-escalation and Code White training.
- Regular and reliable attendance required.

- IV skills and Meditech experience considered assets.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Administer and monitor psychiatric medications, including Clozapine and LAI therapies.
- Support ECT services, including patient preparation, monitoring, scheduling, and post-treatment care.
- Manage CTO renewals, reviews, and related documentation in collaboration with the psychiatrist.
- Provide patient and family education about treatments and recovery processes.
- Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, discharge planning, and community reintegration.
- Respond to psychiatric consultation requests from other hospital units including ER (when required)
- Facilitate risk assessments, de-escalation interventions, and crisis planning.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care processes and outcomes.
