About The Position

Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking a Mental Health Clinician to join the Psychiatry Mental Health Center in Nashville, Tennessee. The Mental Health Clinician will perform diagnostic assessments and therapeutic treatments, including crisis intervention, with some guidance. This role involves maintaining contact with families and community agencies, making referrals, and contributing to process improvement initiatives.

Requirements

Patient Assessment (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate patient assessments in practical applications of moderate difficulty.
Clinical Counseling (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate clinical counseling in practical applications of moderate difficulty.
Patient Diagnosis (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate patient diagnosis in practical applications of moderate difficulty.
Peer Leadership (Fundamental Awareness): Works well with others. Is receptive to ideas and suggestions from team members. Meets with peers and others whenever necessary. Shares ideas and workload with members of the team. Demonstrates initiative when dealing with others. Strives to overcome assignment obstacles before seeking support.
Master's degree
Less than 1 year of relevant work experience

Responsibilities

Provides initial assessment and develops plan of care according to TN Department of Mental Health Best Practice Guidelines.
Provides targeted evidence based interventions into clinical practice with patients.
Acts as clinical liaison with patient, family, treatment team and community.
Contributes to the organization by actively participating in process improvement initiatives and shared decision making.
