Mental Health Clinician II, Pediatrics, Developmental, Behavioral, & Mental Health (Galveston)
About The Position
This position provides mental health evaluation and therapeutic intervention to patients and works under the supervision of a Psychologist, Mental Health Manager, and/or Program Director. The clinician interviews, evaluates, and diagnoses patients with mental health needs; provides individual and group psychotherapy and crisis intervention; and develops, implements, and reviews Individual Treatment Plans. The role also supports staff training and education, quality improvement and management activities, compliance monitoring, and coordination of treatment and aftercare. It requires clinically appropriate and timely documentation and routine communication with supervisors and attending providers.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, or Social Work.
- Current licensure as a Professional Counselor, Psychological Associate, or Clinical Social Worker.
- Five years of experience as a Licensed Psychological Associate, Licensed Professional Counselor, or Licensed Clinical Social Worker.

- Licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Professional Counselor or Psychological Associate.
- Five years of experience as a Licensed Counselor.
Responsibilities
- Interview, evaluate, and diagnose patients identified as having mental health needs.
- Provide individual and group psychotherapy and crisis intervention.
- Develop, implement, and review Individual Treatment Plans.
- Assist with training and education of mental health, medical, and other staff.
- Assist in implementing Quality Improvement/Quality Management programs and monitoring compliance with required policies, procedures, and standards.
- Provide routine consultation and communication with the supervisor and/or attending provider regarding assigned patients’ status.
- Complete clinically appropriate and timely documentation.
- Liaise with patients, patient families, on-site departments, and community agencies to coordinate treatment and/or facilitate aftercare services.
- Adhere to internal controls and reporting structure.
- Perform related duties as required.
