About The Position

The Department of Corrections, Division of Health & Rehabilitation Services, is recruiting for a Mental Health Clinician 3 position located in Palmer, Alaska. This role involves coordinating, supervising, and providing comprehensive mental health services to incarcerated individuals at Palmer Correctional Center and Mat-Su Pretrial. Services include individual and group-based psychotherapeutic interventions, mental health screenings, evaluations, treatment planning, crisis intervention, and ongoing therapeutic casework. The clinician will assess diagnoses and risks, respond to emergent situations, and make clinical recommendations. A key responsibility is performing and facilitating therapeutic group programming focused on cognitive-behavioral skills. As a master's level mental health clinician and supervisor, this role also includes overseeing mental health services, completing performance evaluations, conducting quality assurance, developing staff, and training them on department standards and mental health disorders.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree OR Master’s degree from an accredited college in counseling, psychology, social work, child guidance, vocational rehabilitation, or a closely related field.
  • Progressively responsible professional experience performing psychotherapeutic casework.
  • Knowledge of the concepts, principles, and theories of human behavior and performance in various contexts, mental processes, or the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.
  • Ability to plan, distribute, and monitor work assignments; set task priorities; evaluate work performance and provide feedback to others; ensure staff are appropriately selected, utilized, and developed, and treated fairly.
  • Ability to express information clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, to individuals or groups.
  • Valid driver's license.
