About The Position

NaphCare is hiring a Mental Health Clerk to join their team of medical professionals at the Birmingham Community Work Based Facility in Birmingham, AL. This role provides administrative and clerical support to the Mental Health Director and Health Services Administrator within a correctional environment where security is a top priority. The days are described as never dull.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED certificate.
  • Basic computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word).
  • Excellent organization, attention to detail, time management, and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to obtain BLS CPR Certification (AHA preferred).
  • One (1) year of clerical experience, preferably in a correctional setting.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information.
  • Integrity, professionalism, and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct.
  • Compliance with all corporate policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
  • Ability to pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening.

Responsibilities

  • Managing all incoming calls, directing/transferring calls to appropriate staff, retrieving voicemails daily and returning calls as necessary.
  • Utilizing Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) to prepare reports, memos, and correspondence.
  • Using specific software (X-Jail, TechCare) as needed.
  • Performing clerical and administrative functions such as tracking supplies, utilizing purchase orders for outside vendors, and distributing mail.
  • Entering client data into Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, including case notes, payments, and scheduling.
  • Shredding all documentation containing Patient Health Information (PHI).
  • Coordinating with the Records Department for archiving files and reports.
  • Coordinating volunteer services.
