About The Position

Frontier Behavioral Health (FBH) is a non-profit organization with over 100 years of experience in Spokane, dedicated to understanding and meeting the behavioral health needs of the community. FBH offers evidence-based treatment to adults, youth, and seniors facing a wide range of behavioral health issues. As a Trauma-Informed Care Organization, FBH believes in the recovery potential of its clients, empowering them to lead fulfilling lives. The Adult Outpatient (AOP) program aims to improve symptoms and resolve situational disturbances for clients in relational, occupational, and vocational areas. Treatment is a voluntary, collaborative partnership that may involve family or others at the client's request to ensure daily life stability. Services are tailored to the client's age, strengths, and cultural background, and can be short-term or long-term. The Mental Health Care Provider delivers clinical behavioral health services focusing on health, education, employment, social/family, cultural, recreation, spirituality/religion, and housing. Services are provided using a client-centered, trauma-informed approach aligned with the clinician and recovery models to support client goal achievement. Services are available to individuals of all ages in virtual, office, or community-based settings and include interventions such as sleep hygiene, mindfulness, emotional regulation, psychoeducation, referrals, cognitive coping, behavioral activation, communication skills, administering mental health measures, care coordination, crisis assessment and intervention, identifying strengths and values, group therapy, and program orientation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Must apply for a Counselor Agency Affiliated – Registered (CAAR) credential from the WA State Department of Health within 30 days of hire.
  • Must have an unrestricted and valid driver’s license, active car insurance and must be willing to use their personal vehicle in the course of work.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of experience working with people with a psychiatric impairment.
  • Experience with crisis intervention.

Responsibilities

  • Provide episodic, trauma-informed, person-centered counseling utilizing evidence-based practices within scope of practice.
  • Maintain client records and all other required documentation in a timely and confidential manner in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
  • Conduct risk assessments, develop and implement safety plans, and provide crisis intervention and stabilization services as needed, including facilitating access to inpatient facilities for behavioral health care.
  • Facilitate and co-facilitate client treatment groups.
  • Represent the agency and its services to the community in a positive and professional manner.
  • Participate in required staff meetings, including regular supervision and weekly clinical staff meetings.
  • Participate in any required training, consultation calls, and onsite visits or reviews when required by contract.
  • Accept delegation and follow through with specific expanded assignments and responsibilities within FBH system such as quality improvement teams, task groups, committees, consultations, mentoring or training responsibilities.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with clinical, administrative and support staff, community partners, clients, and family/natural supports.
  • Identify and include the client’s support network and applicable involved community partners in care coordination.
  • Serve as part of the care team and meet productivity standards in accordance with agency program guidelines.
  • Develop and implement care plans with measurable objectives and obtainable goals, in collaboration with the client, evaluating client’s progress and adjusting as needed.
  • Collaborate with master level clinicians, peer support specialists, prescribers, care navigators, or other team members for additional treatment needs as identified on the care plan.
  • Provide care management services to clients including: Assist clients in identifying and accessing resources and collaborating with community resources on behalf of clients. Assist clients in the development of healthy coping mechanisms in individual or group settings. Provide employment and housing assistance as appropriate and necessary. Provide education on the impact of mental health diagnosis on important life domains.
  • Comply with all state WAC requirements and FBH policies and procedures.
  • Perform FBH charting requirements, correspondence, Workday, and other paperwork in a complete and timely manner.
  • Operate as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • May be assigned to supervise bachelor’s level interns.
  • Requires travel to see clients in the community and travel between work sites.
  • Other duties as assigned by agency or supervisor.
