MENTAL HEALTH ASSOCIATE-2nd Shift (3pm-11:30pm) with rotating weekends
About The Position
Clinical Schools provides therapy and treatment to males ages 9 to 18 in a relaxing setting for youth working through mental health disorders, behavioral issues, and sexually reactive behaviors. The campus offers 24-hour supervision, individualized care, and educational services with low student/teacher ratios, ensuring structured and holistic care. The facility includes semi-private bedrooms, unit group rooms, dining facilities, and spacious grounds within a secure environment. Alabama Clinical Schools has over 20 years of experience in behavioral healthcare, offering services from intensive residential treatment to therapeutic foster care for all ages. Their RISE and Specialized Therapeutic Foster Care programs for boys are unique in Alabama. The mission is to enrich the lives of at-risk youth and their families by delivering quality behavioral and educational services while fostering a safe transition to the community. This specific position is for the Bessemer Group Home location.
Requirements
- Must be 19 years or older.
- Must have a successful drug screen and background check (includes criminal history, Child Abuse and Neglect Registry, and ABI/FBI fingerprint check).
- Detailed and organized with strong documentation skills.
- Able to safely monitor residents and perform physical management techniques and crisis intervention.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelors or Associates degree in psychology, social work, education, criminal justice, or other related mental health field preferred, but not required.
- Experience in a residential mental/behavioral health setting strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provides direct care to residents with psychiatric disorders, to ensure their safety and well-being.
- Ensures resident safety on the unit utilizing a therapeutic approach to all tasks.
- Assists with daily activities.
- Facilitates groups.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Group Leader, Assistant Group Leader, or Shift Supervisor.
