About The Position

At Rivermont Schools, Mental Health Associates support students with emotional, behavioral, and developmental challenges through individualized education and therapeutic support. The role assists students with special needs in academics, daily routines, and positive behavior, working closely with teachers, therapists, and families to provide consistent care and a supportive learning environment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic computer skills, including Outlook and Word.
• Strong communication, reading, writing, and documentation skills.
• Reliable, punctual, adaptable team player.
• Patient, calm, and resilient when supporting escalated students.
• Passion for helping students with learning or behavioral differences.

Responsibilities

• Assist students across elementary, middle, and high school age groups with academics, social skills, and daily living needs.
• Observe student behavior, document notes, and share updates with the team to inform adjustments to strategies.
• Support self-help skills, including toileting, feeding, and hygiene, to promote student independence.
• Use de-escalation techniques and calming strategies to maintain a supportive, structured environment.
• Partner with teachers, therapists, BCBAs, and parents to provide consistent, individualized support.
