About The Position

Summit Oaks Hospital, a 126-bed private acute care hospital and chemical dependency treatment center, is seeking a Mental Health Associate (MHA). This role is ideal for an energetic, motivated individual with prior experience working with patients diagnosed with behavioral health or addiction issues. The MHA is an integral part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, role modeling, and monitoring of patients across various age groups and units, including adult psych, adult dual diagnosis, child and adolescent, detox, and rehab units. Key duties include taking vital signs, conducting educational groups, and responding to codes.

Requirements

B.S. in a health-related field with one year of psychiatric experience, preferably in an inpatient setting; or two years of experience in a psychiatric setting with evidence of participation in continuing education related to mental health.
Psychiatric inpatient experience for Adults, Adolescents and Dual populations preferred.
Must maintain CPR and First Aid, Verbal De-escalation and Handle with Care Certifications (provided by the Hospital).

Nice To Haves

Prior experience working with patients with behavioral health or addictions diagnosis.
Psychiatric inpatient experience for Adults, Adolescents and Dual populations.

Responsibilities

Provide continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling.
Monitor patients ranging in age from preschool through geriatrics, depending on the assigned nursing unit.
Take vital signs.
Conduct educational groups.
Respond to codes.
