Mental Health Advocate - Dual Diagnosis, Part Time

About The Position

This is a 24 hour per week, day shift position on HRI Hospital's Dual Diagnosis Unit. The schedule for this position is every Monday and Thursday plus every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday). Prior substance use patient population experienced is preferred. HRI Hospital is a 66-bed psychiatric facility with adult inpatient services and several partial hospitalization programs. Requirements

• High School diploma AND a minimum of 3 years of psychiatric experience OR Bachelor’s degree in human services field or current student pursuing a Bachelor's degree AND 1 year of psychiatric experience
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Physical Fitness – Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
• Must be comfortable working with patients in acute psychiatric distress

Nice To Haves

• Prior substance use patient population experienced is preferred
• Prior experience working with a dual diagnosis / substance use patient population is preferred

Responsibilities

• Monitor patient safety on the inpatient psychiatric units
• Assist nursing staff with patient treatment procedures
• Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment
• Assist patients with activities of daily living
• Provide routine patient care as required in a psychiatric environment
• Document and communicate unusual or erratic changes in client behaviors
• Assist with patient groups and activities
