Mental/Behavioral Health Technician- Part-Time

About The Position
The Mental Health Technician functions as an active part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling to patients ranging in age from adolescents through geriatrics depending on which unit worked. MHTs work under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- At least one (1) year of previous experience in a healthcare setting and/or previous behavioral health experience strongly preferred.
- Current BLS certification required.
- Must complete and maintain training Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) (aggression management, crisis intervention and restraint training).
- Must pass competency exams within 90 days of hire.
- Must be able to prioritize workload, effectively multi-task and problem solve in a fast paced environment.
- Excellent listening, communication, prioritization and follow through skills with strong focus on providing high quality patient care.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting and/or previous behavioral health experience.
Responsibilities

- Providing high quality patient care.
- Moving efficiently to meet the needs of several patients and/or moving rapidly to provide timely intervention of patient aggression.
- Sitting or walking during work shift.
- Hearing spoken words in a normal vocal range, responding to signals, alarms, codes or other displays.
- Recognizing vocal intonation that signals changes in acuity.
- Bending, reaching and stooping.
- Writing legibly to accurately convey information.
- Reading instructions and completing documentation and reports.
- Restraining, as part of a team, an aggressive patient in a safe and therapeutic manner.
- Lifting, positioning or moving patients to perform (or assist in) searches and procedures.
- Performing activities requiring manual dexterity.
- Lifting 30 lbs.
