About The Position

At Seattle Gymnastics Academy, we operate programs under three types of categories: Play, Learn and Compete. Our Compete program is intended for gymnasts who have already experienced and progressed in our Learn (recreational) program, and have shown interest and aptitude to advance to a competitive experience, and have a coach referral. We currently have a rare, exciting opportunity in our USAG Men’s Artistic Competitive Program, for an experienced Coach to lead our Boys Team at SGA Ballard. A well-established team, our current Head Coach will work closely with a successful candidate to train, and work in tandem to create a positive transition for the whole team, athletes and coach alike. SGA is committed to an environment that is safe, leads with positive reinforcement, and teaches skills in progressive manner. Requirements

  • 2+ years gymnastics coaching experience.
  • Ability and willingness to coach a minimum of 20 hours per week.
  • Ability to build meaningful relationships with both athletes and adults.
  • Enthusiastic about working with youth - previous experience is required.
  • Experience working in fast-paced, active environments.
  • Ability to resolve any conflict or disagreements that may arise.
  • Desire to promote a positive learning environment for every child.
  • Desire to grow and lead within SGA.

Nice To Haves

  • USAG certifications for the Men’s Junior Development Program are highly preferred (willingness to obtain upon hire is a plus).
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification preferred (willingness to obtain upon hire is a plus).
  • Passionate about Men's Artistic Gymnastics.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a commitment to a safe, positive environment where our athletes can compete, develop, and flourish.
  • Create lesson plans and track skill development.
  • Follow SGA Mission, Vision and Values.
  • Communicate to front desk and marketing regarding programming.
  • Meet scheduling, attendance, and providing photos and a short written recap post meet to marketing to use for social and newsletter.
  • Continually assess program for success.
  • Market and promote program internally and externally.
  • Support the SGA Invitational Meet.
  • Work with other site Program Directors on overall gym programming and consistency as well as curriculum development.
  • Participate in National Gymnastics Day and support at least one other event annually.
  • Communicate with SGA parents about their child’s progression in your classes.
  • Participate in paid training opportunities, including SGA University courses, USA Gymnastics clinics, and sessions offered by in-house SGA trainers.
  • Assist in light cleaning and sanitation duties to keep gyms fresh and ready for the next round of classes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
