About The Position

Forward Montana is seeking a temporary, full-time Men's Organizer to support long term organizing amongst young men in Montana. This role will provide a space for young men to build a healthy, inclusive community, discuss masculinity and cultural expectations, and learn why it’s important to engage with civic systems and how to be allies and advocates for issues that impact everyday life. The ideal candidate understands the power of youth involvement in civic systems and recognizes the risks young men face from extremist targeting. Applicants should have a passion for making change and working on civic and political projects aligned with Forward Montana's mission and vision. Comfort in a fast-paced, flexible environment with an eye toward new opportunities is essential. All staff are expected to participate in field efforts during election season, such as making phone calls and knocking on doors.

Responsibilities

  • Create & facilitate inclusive community spaces for young men to discuss masculinity and cultural expectations, who benefits versus who is harmed by those expectations and ultimately support shaping a new, visionary, inclusive and healthy understanding of manhood in the context of broader community and challenges of everyday Montanans.
  • Shape this program with support from the Special Program Manager, Program Director and Executive Director. This is a new effort not only for Forward Montana but also for much of the country. This will be a role that requires a level of commitment to testing and building out what works.
  • Organize outreach efforts to gather and promote voter registration, voter mobilization, and issue advocacy that reaches our target constituency (Montanans ages 18-34).
  • Conduct field shifts for up to 8 hours at a time, including door-to-door and field canvassing, tabling, and giving presentations in classrooms, in the community, and to student & community groups.
  • Conduct quality control and data entry of all collected voter registration forms, volunteer shifts, pledges-to-vote, and more.
  • Keep forms organized and turn in all forms to the appropriate county elections offices.
  • Other duties as assigned.
