The process engineer is a member of the MEMS organization, responsible for sustaining existing technology, transitioning products and manufacturing processes from prototype to full production, and developing processes for new product introduction and technology development. The role applies equipment and process technology, along with problem-solving methodologies, to improve manufacturing performance, shorten prototype learning cycles, and enable next-generation technology. As the technical leader of the work center, the engineer partners with worldwide work-center counterparts, Operations, Integration Engineering, and Product Engineering. The role specifies and procures tooling and equipment to meet assurance-of-supply and throughput requirements through the capital expenditure process, and actively participates in the MEMS quality system. The engineer is the technical owner of the Dielectric Deposition Process and tooling and leads work-center improvements in process sustaining, quality, equipment and capacity, and process development. The role leads and contributes to projects, represents the work center on larger development efforts, resolves complex problems, communicates project status and issues, produces professional reports, supports operational and strategic plans, and mentors less-experienced staff. The recommended background is a four-year or graduate degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related discipline, typically with 2–5 years of work experience, preferably in wafer or package fab process engineering. Experience in process development, stabilization, sustaining, and quality systems is relevant. Prior experience with PECVD or related deposition processes is strongly preferred. The annual pay range is $83,000–$127,800 USD, with additional opportunities for bonus and/or equity for candidates in the United States. Pay varies by work location and job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. HP offers health, dental, and vision insurance; long- and short-term disability insurance; an employee assistance program; a flexible spending account; life insurance; and time-off policies that include 4–12 weeks of fully paid parental leave based on tenure, 11 paid holidays, and additional flexible paid vacation and sick leave.
