About The Position

This role focuses on providing compassionate care for a client with memory loss, emphasizing companionship, safety, and support during the afternoon and evening hours. The caregiver will build a genuine relationship with the client, becoming a trusted part of their daily routine. The position is in a one-on-one setting, distinct from a fast-paced facility environment, allowing for focused, meaningful interaction. The caregiver will assist with personal care, daily routines, meals, and provide a reassuring presence for both the client and their family. The environment includes cats, and comfort working around them is necessary.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of caregiving experience in a facility or with an in-home care agency.
• Experience caring for someone with Alzheimer's, dementia, or another memory-related condition.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and auto insurance.
• Authorization to work in the U.S.
• Three professional references.
• TB test within 30 days of hire.
• Excellent communication skills.
• A patient, compassionate personality and a genuine heart for older adults.
• Comfortable working in a home with cats.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care and assistance with daily routines.
• Offer companionship and engage in meaningful conversation.
• Provide memory care support with patience, reassurance, and gentle redirection.
• Assist with meals, snacks, and afternoon/evening routines.
• Encourage and engage the client throughout the shift.
• Assist with maintaining a safe and comfortable environment.
• Support the client's transition from the afternoon into their evening routine.
• Provide a reassuring and supportive presence for the client and their family.
