About The Position

The Memory Care Activity Coordinator is the process owner of the Living Well memory care activity program at American House. This role is responsible for ensuring a person-centric philosophy and the development of an innovative memory care activities program. The coordinator will plan, direct, facilitate, and evaluate the overall activity program, providing creative, meaningful, and purposeful programming based on the dimensions of wellness: physical, cognitive, life skill, social, spiritual, creative, and sensory. Additionally, the Memory Care Activity Coordinator will establish nurturing relationships within the community and support family members through ongoing activity education and support.

Requirements

  • Related degree or experience in memory care and/or dementia care.
  • Computer skills.
  • Ability to be flexible with work schedule.
  • Actively express support for residents, staff, family members and guests.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Problem solving and logic skills.
  • Interpersonal savvy.
  • Possess written and verbal skills for effective communication.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 2 years of dementia and related memory disorders experience preferred.
  • Previous experience working with program implementation for a memory care population.
  • Ability to lead activities for a memory care population for different functional levels.
  • Previous experience motivating others in fun and creative activities.

Responsibilities

  • Creates or oversees a diverse and therapeutic program calendar of events 7 days/week.
  • Coaches all staff members on the importance of programming and how to lead activities when the Memory Care Activity Coordinator is not available.
  • Continually evaluates the effectiveness of the program and implements changes as necessary using the provided Memory Care playbook guide and scorecard for goal setting.
  • Conducts orientation for new team members, ensuring they are knowledgeable of the goals, policies, and procedures for their involvement with activities.
  • Oversees continuing education programs for both Memory Care team members and family members pertaining to programming.
  • Oversees all facets of the Memory Care Activity Coordinator and development of an innovative activities calendar.
  • Performs welcome orientation with new residents and family members.
  • Consistently displays genuine care for others and drives a culture of caring within the Memory Care neighborhood.
  • Performs other duties consistent with the position as assigned.
