About The Position

The Membership Engagement Manager ensures a high-quality Girl Scout Leadership Experience for girls, families, and volunteers through direct support of administrative and volunteers in an assigned geographic area. This position works with the department leads to develop and execute plans for girl and adult recruitment, retention and program plans to achieve overall council membership goals.

Requirements

  • Valid California Driver’s license, access to reliable transportation, proof of insurance
  • Able to pass Girl Scouts of Northern California’s background screening process (including fingerprinting, criminal education, social security, and Department of Motor Vehicle verification)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional time management, organization, and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively manage a geographically dispersed territory.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with volunteers, community partners, schools, and other stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and respond effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred or experience commensurate with degree, preferably three years of related experience.
  • Experience in membership recruitment, sales, business development, or customer acquisition.
  • Experience working with volunteers or volunteer-led organizations.
  • Experience conducting community outreach, presentations, or public speaking.
  • Experience planning and executing events.
  • Knowledge of the assigned geographic region and local community resources.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish fluency.
  • Experience working in a hybrid or remote work environment with a high degree of autonomy.

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for the comprehensive year-round recruitment, retention and programming plans for girls and volunteer membership growth, to ensure that Girl Scouting is available in all segments of the population within the assigned geographic area.
  • Utilize the sales process, including management of leads to increase girl and adult membership in assigned geographic area, recording all activities in Salesforce.
  • Identifies and develops opportunities and creates strong partnerships with community organizations, agencies, leaders, educators, and faith-based institutions to increase positive awareness of and participation in the organization to support effective recruitment efforts within targeted areas to impact membership growth.
  • Implement the volunteer engagement strategy which also includes training, enrichment opportunities and recognition.
  • Deploys innovative approaches to deliver Girl Scout programs to girls and determine the need for additional council support by assessing community needs.
  • Ensure all program events and activities are planned and implemented to comply with GSUSA and GSNorCal policies and guidelines.
  • Supports volunteer management including new leaders and troops.
  • Recruit and supervise volunteer teams in assigned geographic areas to meet GSNorCal’s membership and strategic goals.
  • Works with volunteer administrative teams to develop and ensure execution of volunteer role planning and development, onboarding of new troop leaders, program planning, recruitment, and retention strategies.
  • Implements the delivery of ongoing volunteer engagement, direction, mentoring and support in key service areas such as grade-level guidance; troop finances, management, and operations; troop leadership; troop traditions and activities; awards, proficiency badges, and volunteer recognitions and adult learning opportunities.
  • Facilitates conflict resolution among volunteers to promote a cooperative and positive environment.
  • Use data to monitor and adjust plans to meet individual and team membership goals.
  • Collaborates with a cross functional membership team to implement and tailor annual recruitment and retentions campaigns to achieve overall membership health in designated geographic areas.
  • Develop and execute a structured plan of weekly, monthly, and quarterly activities, focusing on producing positive outcomes for local communities and achieving target goals.
  • Monitor data to assess your individual progress towards Council-established recruitment and retention goals, in partnership with your manager.
  • Provide responsive and positive customer service.
  • Provide superior customer service to all internal and external customers, members, volunteers, staff, and other community contacts in person, electronically and by phone.
  • Manage your assigned Salesforce cases according to department protocols to provide support related to recruitment, troop placement, program events, and volunteer inquiries.
  • Other duties as assigned to meet organizational goals.
