About The Position

Partnership Financial Credit Union (PFCU) is seeking a part-time Member Service Representative (MSR) to join their team in Morton Grove. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and is passionate about helping people achieve their financial goals. As a credit union, PFCU is a not-for-profit, member-owned cooperative focused on serving its members with low loan rates, high deposit rates, and low or no fee products and services. PFCU has a long history dating back to the 1950s and maintains offices in Morton Grove, Barrington, Des Plaines, Evanston, and Franklin Park. The MSR I position focuses on learning all PFCU's products and services, building member relationships, and providing prompt, efficient, and accurate service. The role involves processing transactions, opening limited new accounts, updating member profiles, and identifying sales opportunities. The MSR I reports to the Branch/Operations Manager and/or Member Service Supervisor and must act in accordance with established policies, procedures, and regulations, while meeting or exceeding sales goals.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent job-related experience providing the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the responsibilities of the role.
  • Minimum of 6 months of related experience; customer service and sales.
  • Experience in working with and assisting others in a professional setting.
  • The ability and desire to consistently build relationships, identify, and introduce additional products and services to members or potential members in order to meet assigned individual or organizational goals.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Well-organized, ability to multi-task, accuracy and detail-oriented.
  • A professional demeanor, positive attitude, and the willingness to advance.
  • General understanding of credit union or banking or lending products, services, policies, and procedures.
  • Results-driven, goal and service-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Trustworthy with the ability to maintain the highest level of integrity; bondable.
  • Proficiency in all PFCU's software applications, including member applications and Microsoft Office.
  • Must be flexible regarding work schedule as evening hours may be necessary.
  • Ability to communicate with clarity, while understanding and explaining complex situations to team members and outside contacts.
  • Ability to proofread documentation and correspondence to ensure free of errors and fraud.
  • Ability to move or lift files, boxes, and general office equipment if needed.
  • Uphold the Credit Union's compliance with all policies, procedures, and required regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act and our Anti-Money Laundering policy.

Responsibilities

  • Assist members with their financial needs, processing transactions and requests within limits and with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Build relationships and enhance the member experience by providing prompt, efficient, confidential, and accurate service in a friendly, positive, and professional manner.
  • Recognize additional sales opportunities.
  • Greet, interact, communicate, and assist members by providing prompt, efficient, and accurate service within established limits in a professional and friendly manner, whether in person, by phone, or email.
  • Assist members with general account inquiries or issues for resolution and satisfaction.
  • Gain proficiency in all credit union software applications, including member applications, Microsoft Office, and general office equipment.
  • Process all types of member transactions and documentation associated with member requests, including general account deposits, loan transactions, limited new account opening, member profile updates, and ancillary products.
  • Request additional information from members when needed and follow up to ensure completion.
  • Build member rapport at every opportunity.
  • Promote, explain, and cross-sell PFCU's product line to all members consistently.
  • Acquire a general understanding of all PFCU products and services to sell/cross-sell to members and obtain individual and organizational goals.
  • Keep abreast of industry developments, including changes in regulations, technology, current events, and credit union, banking, and lending trends.
  • Promote and maintain a positive work atmosphere by communicating in a manner consistent with professional standards; work effectively with members, co-workers, management, and vendors.
  • Display and promote teamwork.
  • Represent PFCU in SEG and community functions to promote the credit union in a positive light.
  • Ensure adherence to all company policies and procedures and Banking/Credit Union Regulations; adhere to all regulatory compliance, including teller operational duties.
  • Maintain and monitor cash control position for own cash drawer.
  • Maintain and complete audit logs for internal controls and monitor and replenish office supplies and inventory.
  • Perform additional duties as required and may be utilized in other PFCU offices and departments as business needs dictate.
