About The Position

A Member Service Associate (MSA) is a leader who takes pride in their job and can resolve inquiries and issues in a friendly manner. They have a strong work ethic, are team players, and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment where no two days are ever the same. MSAs are expected to have a friendly yet professional attitude and carry themselves in a way that imbues respect. They are known for showing leadership, selling memberships and programs, and contributing to member retention. Proficient computer software users, they can find all necessary information and are trained to respond to emergencies, always staying updated on safety procedures. They can oversee multiple duties simultaneously, including maintaining a clean and organized workspace, handling cash transactions, opening/closing the facility, assisting members with reservations and activities, issuing and tracking equipment/keys, documenting inquiries, maintaining membership records, and preparing coffee service. The YMCA enforces strict child abuse policies and prevention measures, requiring all staff to support these policies.

Requirements

  • Minimum age requirement is 18 years.
  • Highschool Diploma / GED required.
  • Proven customer service excellence from a similar industry.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly.
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Must have sense for detail.
  • Experience in office processes and procedures.
  • Comfortable with data entry, computer functions, and phone follow ups.

Nice To Haves

  • College Degree preferred.
  • Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.).

  • Oversee multiple duties simultaneously, including but not limited to: Maintain a clean, organized and properly stocked workspace, Handle cash balance and receipt all money transactions at the desk, Open/close Y facility as scheduled, Assist members in scheduling reservations and activities, Issues and tracks equipment/keys, Document all inquiries and maintain accurate membership records, Preparing and maintaining member coffee service and supplies.
  • Other duties as assigned.
