The Role We are hiring performance engineers to expand our ongoing investment in performance and efficiency. As a performance engineer, you will pair up with engineers to tackle all aspects of evaluating database performance under a wide spectrum of workloads and configurations. The work encompasses: measuring and defining performance baselines, guiding other teams, performing root cause analysis across the entire stack, performing competitive benchmarking, building new workloads, and more. You will have a large impact on shaping the performance of the database. This is a high-impact team, which owns database performance end-to-end. The team is situated on a critical path, connecting (all of) Engineering, Product and Marketing. As an ideal candidate, you will have worked with massively complex codebases and possess broad experience in databases, distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, as well as deep experience in performance analysis and benchmarking. You are passionate about benchmarking, and you have read Always measure one level deeper several times throughout your career. You are an intuitive communicator and author and can adapt your writing to any target audience.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a performance engineer
- 5+ years of experience as a software engineer writing clean, idiomatic code
- 1+ years of hands on experience with GCP, AWS, or Azure
- Exceptional communication (oral and written) skills and a collaborative mindset
- MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
