Member of Applied AI Team

Runway
•$225,000 - $270,000

About The Position

Runway is building AI to simulate the world, with world models intended to support general-purpose simulation and applications across creative work, science, and other fields. The Applied AI team connects that research with customers and works to remove the obstacles that prevent them from putting Runway into production. This role owns customer problems rather than accounts. You will work with major studios, brands, and Fortune 100 companies to understand their creative and technical workflows, identify blockers, and build solutions such as workflows, plugins, integrations, and proofs of concept. Work may include customer-specific demos, managed evaluations, deployment planning, onboarding improvements, and presenting technical or production plans to audiences ranging from engineers to executives. Solutions developed for one customer may become reusable product capabilities. You will partner with Product, Engineering, and Creative to bring customer needs into the roadmap, and measure outcomes such as time to production, usage, and customer deliverables. Runway has offices in NYC, San Francisco, Seattle, and London. The role may involve travel to customer locations.

Requirements

  • Build production-running solutions using Python or TypeScript, APIs, integrations, and data pipelines.
  • Be able to read, debug, and explain code, including code written with coding agents, to a customer's engineering team.
  • Have shipped a workflow, integration, plugin, or internal tool that a customer actually used.
  • Have deployed AI or machine learning systems and integrations inside complex organizations and be able to describe the outcomes.
  • Be able to communicate with both executive and engineering audiences and translate between them.
  • Be prepared for some travel to customer locations.
  • Be comfortable with open-ended problems and unstructured environments, and create structure rather than waiting for it.
  • Be willing to prototype, iterate with customers, and adapt by learning, guiding, leading, or following.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with SQL, BigQuery, or Retool.
  • Experience in media, entertainment, or advertising production.

Responsibilities

  • Work with customer creative, technical, and executive teams to understand workflows and identify obstacles to production.
  • Build proofs of concept and tailored demonstrations using customer brands, footage, or catalogs.
  • Develop workflows, plugins, integrations, and other solutions that remove customer blockers.
  • Turn customer-specific solutions into reusable workflows, plugins, integrations, or product capabilities.
  • Own evaluation plans, guide managed trials, build tailored demos, and support the technical side of deal cycles with account executives.
  • Scope customer deployments with defined success criteria, customer-side builders, and executive sponsors, keeping engagements on scope.
  • Help customers move from contract signing to production quickly, expand API-only accounts to Platform plus API, and improve onboarding.
  • Present technical pipelines and production plans to audiences including analysts, studio leaders, executives, and engineers.
  • Work with Product, Engineering, and Creative to translate customer needs into roadmap requirements.
  • Measure customer outcomes, including time to production, usage before and after projects, and what customers shipped.
