This position is remote within the state of AZ only. This remote work opportunity requires residency, and work to be performed, within the State of Arizona. The Member and Veteran Liaison is responsible for connecting with and advocating for members, families, and communities. Key responsibilities include working directly with members and families to identify concerns and remove barriers that affect service delivery or member satisfaction, educating members and communities on the availability of resources, building partnerships with providers, community-based organizations, and key stakeholders, and assessing services with the use of stratified data and outcome measures. This position is focused on advocating for our members and communities through a population health lens. This position also serves as the Veteran Liaison Key Staff Position. As the Veteran Liaison, this position supports the veteran population and facilitates coordination between the health plan, AHCCCS, and key stakeholders to improve services for veterans and their families.

Requirements

  • 2 years of experience working directly with clients in a clinical or community-based setting
  • Experience in military, veteran services, or other related professions
  • High-School Diploma or GED in general field of study
  • Knowledge of the Arizona health care system, behavioral health services, and crisis services
  • Knowledge and experience in working with veterans and families
  • Knowledge of and experience in applying a whole-person health framework to programs
  • Experience in collecting, monitoring, and analyzing data
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and in writing
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and handle multiple projects
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Experience in working directly with individuals, either in a clinical or community-based setting
  • Experience in building and strengthening partnerships with providers, community-based organizations, and key stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and as part of team

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the organization’s advocacy program for members and families, which includes advocating for services that are trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, and person-centered
  • Communicates and collaborates with members and families to identify concerns and remove barriers that affect service delivery or member satisfaction
  • Facilitates member-facing and community forums, such as the Member Advocacy Council and member focus groups, to promote available resources, reduce stigma, and increase the value of lived experience
  • Collaborates with providers, community-based organizations, and key stakeholders, including AHCCCS Office of Human Rights and the Independent Oversight Committee (IOC), to promote recovery, resiliency, and wellness
  • Functions closely with the Office of Individual and Family Affairs (OIFA) team, Community Outreach team, and other departments, such as Member Services and the Clinical teams to support members
  • Attends various internal and external meetings focused on members and families
  • Monitors and analyzes outcome data and performance measures specific to members and families, which includes the analysis of Race, Ethnicity and Language (REaL) data, Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity (SOGI) data, and other demographic data. Data trends and outcomes may be reported on though monthly close deck slides, deliverables, committee meetings, AHCCCS meetings, etc.
  • Manage existing programs and develop new initiatives aimed at reducing stigma and enhancing services for veterans and their families
  • Advocate for veteran services that are trauma-informed, supportive, recovery-oriented, and person-centered
  • Engage in community-based events and initiatives that support veterans, including staffing outreach tables and providing program information
  • Share information about the AHCCCS-Approved Statewide Veteran Resource Provider with members and families
  • Collaborate with AHCCCS, the AHCCCS-Approved Statewide Veteran Resource Provider, Veterans Affairs, key stakeholders, and community organizations to provide care and support for service members, veterans, and families
  • Deliver trainings to providers and community partners related to serving veterans
  • Collect, monitor, and report on data relating to our veteran population. Data trends and outcomes may be reported on though monthly close deck slides, deliverables, committee meetings, AHCCCS meetings, etc.
  • This position must reside in the state of Arizona
  • As some travel is required with this role, the employee must have a Valid Arizona Driver’s license
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
  • The position requires a full-time work schedule. Full-time is defined as working at least 40 hours per week, plus any additional hours as requested or as needed to meet business requirements
