About The Position

The Aspirus Member Experience & Operations Director provides leadership and daily oversight of membership operations, staff, mini care, member experience and building operations at the Woodson YMCA Aspirus Branch. This role is responsible for driving membership growth and retention while ensuring a welcoming, inclusive, and high-quality experience for all members. This is a highly visible and hands-on position, with time spent supporting the Membership Desk and building operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and three years related experience preferred.
  • Ability to direct assigned operations including but not limited to supervision and development of staff, development and management of budget, marketing and public relations, program development, and volunteer development.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Demonstrated desire and ability to work with and relate to children, teens, and one’s peers.
  • Demonstrated ability to create, schedule, and organize daily duties.
  • Physical, visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to assigned activities. Must be able to walk, stand, and sit for full shift.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certifications within 30 days of hire and maintenance of certification are required.
  • Criminal background clearance within association standards.
  • Minimum age requirement of 21.
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience.
  • Previous work within a YMCA preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides excellent service to members, guests, and program participants in the Y and on the phone, contributing to member retention.
  • Builds relationships with members, program participants and staff; helps members connect with one another, the YMCA staff and address concerns to improve satisfaction.
  • Oversee daily operations of the Membership Department, including Membership Desk and Mini Care. As well as building operations.
  • Supervise, hire, and train Membership Department and Mini Care staff.
  • Monitor membership revenue and support budget goals.
  • Review 24/7 facility camera footage as needed to support safety, security, and incident follow-up.
  • Oversee daily cash handling, including reconciling (tying out) cash drawers and resolving. discrepancies
  • Meets with people seeking CSMs (Community Supported Membership) for potential enrollments or renewals.
  • Participate in tour duty, professional development events and All-Staff meetings.
  • Collaborates with other Directors to administer quality special events and fundraisers.
  • Respond quickly and effectively to accidents and incidents. Assist in the conduction of investigations as may be required and per YMCA policies and procedures. Accurately prepare and submit accident and incident reports in a timely manner.
  • Act as a team member, made evident by active participation in all training events and staff meetings, as well as working cooperatively with all Directors and Staff.
  • Assist in preparing and ordering equipment and supplies. Maintain adequate inventory and order replacements per prescribed procedures, while following budget needs.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisor.
