About The Position

The Member Events Operations Manager is responsible for the day-to-day execution of The Battery's Member Events programming. This role oversees the majority of the Club's recurring events, such as trivia nights, comedy shows, and Saturday concerts, from setup to breakdown. It involves being the operational lead on the ground for Member Events, managing the operational and administrative backbone of the department, maintaining the recurring programming calendar, advancing events with artists, speakers, and vendors, and handling invoicing and post-event documentation. This is a hands-on, floor-based position requiring hospitality and event experience, with the ability to thrive in live environments, understand service flow, and manage staff and logistics in real time. The role collaborates closely with Programming and Food & Beverage leadership to ensure consistent, well-run events that meet the Club's standards. Flexibility is essential due to the nature of supporting live events and club operations, requiring regular evening work, late nights, and occasional Sundays and holidays. This is an on-site position located in San Francisco.

Requirements

  • Must be able to deal with vendors, presenters, and talent in a professional manner while maintaining a composed demeanor in high-stress situations.
  • Strong communication skills and calm presence in fast-paced environments.
  • Good time management skills; can manage and complete priorities and workflow, and be detail-oriented.
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in hospitality, events, private clubs, or similar environments, especially with a food and beverage focus.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with BEOs, event timelines, advancing, and managing onsite vendors.
  • Excellent computer skills and ability to use software programs (e.g., Google Office Suite, MS Office).
  • Works with a sense of urgency.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in English.
  • Take direction well; understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Frequent and high volume of Member/guest contact is required.
  • Must be able to tolerate varying noise levels, temperature, illumination, and air quality.
  • Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Requires a normal sense of smell, taste, touch, and sound.
  • Must be able to respond to visual or aural cues.
  • Continuously or periodically bend, twist, lean, lift, push, pull, kneel, walk, stand, and/or sit up to 8+ hours per shift.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds in order to perform the essential functions.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment and sometimes stressful situations.
  • Work in an environment where the climate constantly changes.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the on-site operational lead for the majority of Member Events, including high-frequency recurring programs (trivia, comedy nights, Saturday concerts, and similar repeat events), overseeing setup, service flow, and breakdown.
  • Ensure BEOs and event timelines are followed accurately during live events.
  • Execute food and beverage service plans in coordination with F&B and Culinary teams.
  • Act as a host presence during events, supporting Members and resolving service issues as they arise.
  • Close out the Point of Sale (POS) system and provide receipts and an event recap to the Member Events team.
  • Supervise hourly event staff and outsourced labor during events.
  • Lead pre-event briefings to align staff on service expectations and timing.
  • Support training and reinforcement of service standards during events.
  • Escalate staffing or performance issues to department leadership when needed.
  • Partner with the Programming team to translate event plans into operational execution.
  • Coordinate with AV, Engineering, Front Desk, and Security on event-day needs.
  • Assist with furniture layouts, run-of-show coordination, and basic production logistics.
  • Advance events with artists, speakers, and vendors ahead of time, confirming logistics, hospitality needs, schedules, and any special requirements.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for artists, vendors, and speakers for select programs.
  • Help establish and maintain strong relationships with artists, speakers, and vendors that come to The Battery.
  • Own and maintain the recurring programming calendar, including monthly repeat programming BEOs and floor plans using existing templates.
  • Assist with invoice collection and coding, vendor paperwork, and post-event documentation.
  • Create weekly event signage using templates.
  • Support expense tracking and reconciliation for events.
  • Maintain operational notes, staffing feedback, and event follow-ups.
  • Additional administrative projects as time allows.
  • Provide occasional support for Private Events during slower programming periods.
  • Communicate clearly with supervisors regarding event outcomes, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
