About The Position

The North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) is seeking a Member Engagement Specialist to support its mission of assuring the effective and efficient reduction of risks to the reliability and security of the grid. This role is critical to advancing NERC's engagement focus area, involving the implementation and tracking of engagement priorities across the organization. The specialist will also provide stakeholder engagement and communications support to specific NERC departments and committees, contribute to strategic planning efforts, and report to the Director, NERC Membership Engagement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience.
  • Prior experience working in or with the electric industry.
  • Experience with stakeholder engagement and/or strategic planning.
  • Proven ability to deepen relationships and encourage stakeholder participation.
  • Exceptional communications skills across formats, including verbal presentations and written deliverables.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working across multiple projects simultaneously, with multiple stakeholders and different timelines.
  • Extremely organized and detailed-oriented.
  • Passionate, mission-driven leader comfortable leading large-scale projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability and desire to work collaboratively across teams and parts of the organization.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools.
  • Familiarity with electric reliability topics.
  • Familiarity with NERC.

Responsibilities

  • Engage directly with external stakeholders (e.g., electric industry representatives and trade organizations) through various channels like email, meetings, and conferences.
  • Support the member engagement strategy, including onboarding new members, maintaining membership data accuracy, updating communication resources, and managing feedback.
  • Provide support for engagement with NERC’s Member Representatives Committee.
  • Track and analyze NERC’s member engagement efforts, delivering regular status updates on key metrics to NERC leadership.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of a stakeholder CRM database.
  • Create educational materials such as one-pagers, slide decks, and memorandums for stakeholders.
  • Develop external messaging, talking points, and presentations to support NERC leadership.
  • Serve as an external affairs liaison to specific NERC departments and standing committees to ensure coordinated stakeholder engagement and communications.
  • Offer support for key initiatives currently underway at NERC.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of NERC’s strategic planning process.
  • Stay informed about industry developments that may impact NERC.
