The 2nd shift Melt Operator is responsible for charging and cleaning furnaces and launders to ensure quality metal is delivered to the casters. This role also involves monitoring and helping to maintain the Melt equipment. The position requires adherence to safety standards, including OSHA regulations, and may involve participation in training seminars to learn new technologies. The operator will monitor metal levels, make alloy additions, and perform various cleaning and maintenance tasks on furnaces and casters. Additionally, the role includes inspecting and offloading metal shipments, checking furnace temperatures and amperages, and maintaining accurate records. Assistance with equipment repairs and other duties as assigned by the supervisor are also part of the responsibilities. The work environment can involve exposure to noise, odors, dust, chemicals, operating machinery, temperature extremes, and hazardous substances, with some travel potentially required. Physical demands include repetitive lifting, manual movements, carrying, pushing, pulling, crouching, climbing, and sustained visual concentration with precise eye-hand coordination.
