About The Position

The Melt Crew is responsible for safely handling molten metal at extremely high temperatures, supporting daily furnace operations, and maintaining related equipment such as ladles and refractory linings. This includes preparing and pouring metal, performing routine repairs, and ensuring all work is conducted with a strong focus on safety, teamwork, and attention to detail.

Requirements

  • Able to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed instructions.
  • Able to discern imperfections, understand quality of repairs of iron holders / ladles.
  • Able to understand basic addition to tally units per training.
  • Able to learn job duties and locations from verbal instructions.
  • Additional responsibilities and duties may be assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Interact with liquid metal at temperatures exceeding (2800) degrees.
  • Maintain holders / ladles and at times perform repairs on the furnace including daily patches, repairs and relining the refractory.
  • Prepare the pouring ladles for daily use; pour metal into ladles.
  • Take direction from supervisor; understand temperatures; molten iron safety; assist with the cleaning/maintaining furnaces ladles.
  • Perform all duties in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Obtain a tow motor license and successfully pass LOTO and confined space training.
  • Be available for weekend and overtime assignments as required.
