About The Position

We are seeking an MEI Inspector with an innovative mindset, strong time management skills, organization, good work ethic, and someone ready to make an impact in the communities ETM serves. The following skills will be required for this position: · Perform field inspection of roadway, bridge, drainage, roadside, traffic operations, and other transportation maintenance activities. · Monitor contractor operations for compliance with contract requirements, specifications, plans, standards, approved procedures, and applicable safety requirements. · Maintain accurate daily inspection records, including personnel, equipment, work locations, activities, quantities, weather, delays, deficiencies, and significant project events. · Measure, calculate, and document quantities of completed work for project records and contractor payment verification. · Identify and document deficient or nonconforming work and report concerns to senior inspection or project management personnel. · Coordinate day-to-day inspection activities with contractor representatives and other project personnel as directed. · Observe Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) operations and report apparent deficiencies or unsafe conditions. · Take photographs and maintain supporting field documentation for inspected work. · Perform follow-up inspections to verify completion of corrective work and assigned maintenance activities.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in inspection involving maintenance contracts and/or permit inspection.
  • Understanding of FDOT construction project administration methods and processes including but not limited to training in MAC, BlueBeam, Hummingbird and Site Manager programs.
  • CTQP Certification in Asphalt, Concrete, Earthwork, pile driving and drilled shafts are required.
  • FDOT Intermediate Maintenance of Traffic (MOT)
  • Nuclear Radiation Safety
  • Florida Stormwater, Erosion, and Sedimentation Control Training and Certification Program for Inspectors and Contractors
  • Experience in performing transportation construction, maintenance, engineering, or inspection activities.
  • Experience or familiarity with roadway or transportation infrastructure work.
  • Working knowledge of roadway maintenance and construction practices, materials, equipment, measurement methods, and inspection procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, standards, work documents, maps, and technical information.
  • Ability to prepare clear and accurate inspection reports and perform field measurements and quantity calculations.
  • Ability to work in active roadway environments and use computers, tablets, cameras, and electronic documentation systems required for project reporting.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with contractors, project staff, and other stakeholders.
