Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Cleared Criminal Record clearance through the Department of Social Services prior to presence in the community.
  • Health screening and TB test results not older than 6 months.
  • Current First Aid Training and Certifications per Title 22.
  • Working knowledge of computers and typing, sufficient enough to be successful with computerized Point of Care and other systems.
  • Minimum of six months experience in long term care, home care, or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of computers and keyboarding in order to be successful with electronic health record systems.
  • Ability to speak, read, write and understand English and the ability to successfully work in a multi-cultural environment.

Nice To Haves

  • 6 months or more in long term care, home care or related field preferred.
  • Successful completion of Med Tech Training program.

Responsibilities

  • Dispensing resident’s medications, administering prescribed treatments, and maintaining medication documentation and control.
  • Identifying any side effects or problems, and reporting refusals to Supervisor and physician.
  • Preparing and passing medication for residents as ordered by a physician, reporting any medication errors, side effects or problems to supervisor or physician.
  • Documenting administration or refusal of medication in required format and style.
  • Maintaining documentation and communication log in accordance with required procedures, using electronic system when appropriate.
  • Reordering meds as needed, following appropriate protocols.
  • Ensuring that medication is available when needed through on time refills.
  • Ordering labs as necessary.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
