Requirements
- Proven experience as a community pharmacist
- Thorough understanding of dosage administration and measurement, chemical compounds, medical brands etc.
- Good organizing skills.
- Excellent communication skills with a customer oriented approach.
- Integrity and compassion.
- Degree in Pharmacy.
- Valid license to practice the profession in NY.
- Outstanding knowledge of Pharmacy information systems (e.g: Micro Merchant.)
Responsibilities
- Review and execute physician’s prescriptions for appropriateness and legality.
- Review patient profiles for order verification, medication appropriateness, therapy monitoring, drug safety and efficacy, and perform/document interventions.
- Check dosage and ensure medicines are correctly and safely supplied and labeled.
- Advise patients on adverse side effects or potential drug interactions.
- Ensure patients are fully aware of any medication changes.
- Perform final check on all dispensed prescriptions for accuracy.
- Supervise the preparation of any medication.
- Maintain control over delivering, stocking, and labeling medicine, monitoring for expiration or deterioration.
- Keep a register of controlled drugs for legal and stock control.
- Manage, supervise, and train pharmacy support staff.
- Arrange the delivery of prescription medicines to patients.
- Organize the pharmacy for efficient product identification.
- Budgeting and financial management.
- Stay updated with current pharmacy practice and new drugs.
- Perform timely telephone follow-up with patients to assess compliance.
- Perform continuous quality assurance measures and evaluate program performance data.
- Comply with regulatory bodies such as HIPAA, NYS Law, JCAHO, HRSA (340b), and CHSLI Policies and Procedures.
- Work with other disciplines to provide integrated care, ensure timely delivery, and provide education to employees when dispensing prescriptions.
