About The Position

This is an in-person internship supporting our Electrical Engineering team on real client projects. You will build a base foundation of electrical engineering principles and code requirements, gaining hands-on experience with Cushing Terrell's collaborative design process across low-voltage and medium-voltage power distribution systems. You will help develop electrical design documentation and drawings, building skills in Revit and AutoCAD, while learning engineering coordination across disciplines. Success in this internship means completing individually tailored training sessions covering electrical systems design fundamentals, lighting design, emerging technologies, and building codes, participating in site visits with project leads, and leaving with a clear picture of what it means to work in the AEC industry.

Requirements

  • Completion of 3+ years of an electrical engineering or related undergraduate program
  • Basic knowledge of Revit or AutoCAD
  • Basic knowledge of Adobe Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and Bluebeam
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to learn and adapt
  • Ability to effectively collaborate and communicate with team members across disciplines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to low-voltage or medium-voltage power distribution
  • Interest in lighting design or alternative energy/power generation
  • Familiarity with building codes and safety standards
  • Interest in emerging technologies and sustainable design

Responsibilities

  • Support the design of electrical systems, including low-voltage and medium-voltage power distribution
  • Build Revit and AutoCAD skills through hands-on electrical design work
  • Learn and apply building codes and safety standards to project design
  • Complete individually tailored training sessions on electrical systems design, lighting, and emerging technologies
  • Coordinate with engineering teams across disciplines on active projects
  • Attend site visits with project leads when opportunities allow
  • Gain exposure to the variety of project types and teams across the firm
