About The Position

Responsible for enhancing and improving the SRIM experience specifically in the Heartful Care for our residents and their families. This role involves supervising the self-administration of medication, assisting with daily living activities, meal service, light housekeeping, and laundry, while encouraging resident independence. The Medication Technician will interact with residents with empathy and kindness, observe and report changes in their health and well-being, and serve residents in the dining room. The position also includes initiating and participating in leisure activities, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and responding promptly to resident requests. Effective communication with residents, ensuring they are signed out when leaving the community, and maintaining a safe and secure working environment are key aspects of this role. The Medication Technician is expected to practice good body mechanics, report safety hazards, assist other associates, and follow established policies and procedures, especially during emergencies, where they are considered essential personnel. Teamwork, a positive and respectful attitude towards work and colleagues, compliance with attendance policies, and participation in trainings and meetings are also crucial. The role requires wearing clean and appropriate attire, refraining from discussing resident care issues with families, and complying with HIPAA regulations. Additionally, the Medication Technician will assist in training and mentoring new employees, take initiative in their work, seek additional information, offer solutions, and willingly take on special projects or assignments outside of regular duties. The position also involves performing housekeeping and laundry duties to maintain the community and performing all other reasonable duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Knowledge of word processing software and electronic medical records.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Medicine Technician (Med-Tech) certification.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises self-administration of medication for residents.
  • Assists with ADL's, meal service, light housekeeping, and laundry while encouraging resident independence.
  • Speaks to/interacts with residents at all levels of care constantly, while showing empathy, kindness, compassion, and respect.
  • Observes and reports to supervisor daily and all changes in the resident’s health and emotional well-being.
  • Serves and assist residents in the dining room at breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily.
  • Responsible for initiating and participating in leisure activities provided to residents as described in the activity calendar.
  • Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly environment for all residents at all times.
  • Performs daily general housekeeping duties following established cleaning schedules.
  • Ensures and supports a dignified and caring atmosphere for residents, families, visitors, and associates.
  • Always responds promptly and courteously to resident's requests for assistance including phone calls and requests from family members and visitors.
  • Communicates effectively in a language that each resident is capable of understanding.
  • Ensures residents and/or responsible parties sign residents out when they leave the community.
  • Maintains a safe and secure working environment free of objects/situations that could cause harm and/or falls to residents, families, visitors, and associates.
  • Practices good body mechanics and safe working habits at all times.
  • Observes and reports safety hazards immediately to supervisor.
  • Provides assistance to associates when requested or required.
  • Knows, understands, and follows established policies and procedures in emergency situations.
  • Responsible for being considered essential personnel during emergencies and/or inclement weather.
  • Is required to report or remain at community until released by supervisor.
  • Works as a team player with other associates and management in accomplishing work assignments.
  • Demonstrates a positive and respectful attitude about work issues, policies, and procedures at all times.
  • Demonstrates a positive and respectful attitude with residents, families, visitors, associates and management at all times.
  • Complies with attendance and call off policy.
  • Attends and/or participates in trainings, in-service, and mandatory meetings.
  • Wears clean and appropriate dress per established dress code policy at all times.
  • Refrains from discussing resident care issues with families and visitors and refers all inquiries to immediate supervisor.
  • Knows, understands, and complies with HIPAA regulations.
  • Assists with training of new employees.
  • Assists in mentoring new employees.
  • Takes the initiative in work, seeks out additional information, and offers solutions/suggestions, all without asking.
  • Takes on special projects or assignments outside of regular duties willingly.
  • Provides a variety of housekeeping and/or laundry duties in maintaining the community in an orderly, clean, and sanitary condition.
  • Performs all other reasonable duties as assigned.
