About The Position

LCB Senior Living is hiring Medication Technicians at The Residence at Otter Creek. This position is for weekends only. The role involves dispensing unit dose medications, making required record entries, and notifying the nurse about self-administered medications. It also includes ordering and receiving medications according to regulations and company policies. The Medication Technician will assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as toileting, dressing, bathing, eating, and walking, as detailed in their service plan. A key responsibility is monitoring residents for changes in needs, preferences, and health status, and promptly reporting these changes to the RN or designee. The role also entails assisting residents with clothing and laundry, supervising or assisting with activity programs, helping residents with bedtime routines, and maintaining the neatness and orderliness of resident units. Medication Technicians are expected to respond promptly to emergency calls and attend to resident needs. Participation in the community's regularly scheduled in-service training programs is mandatory, as is participation in specialized staff training and mandatory education requirements dictated by state regulations upon request. Additional duties include escorting residents to meals and activities, documenting all services provided (including incidents, behaviors, and refusals), inputting service information into the community computer tracking system, and conducting/facilitating programming for cognitive stimulation, socialization, physical activity, and spiritual connection.

Requirements

  • Must have completed the course, as required by State Regulation to administer medication, CPR and First Aide training as mandated by the State employed.
  • Prior experience providing direct care or the equivalent in training preferred.
  • Ability to use computer for documenting services provided.
  • Shall be fluent in the ability to communicate in the English language, both oral and written
  • Demonstrates computer literacy and familiarity with office software, including but not limited to word processing or demonstrate the ability to learn data input.
  • Current Med Aide or LMNA certification/license or completed required training as dictated by State Regulation.
  • Must maintain required certification/license and to provide copies of the documentation to the Resident Care Director or designee.
  • Finger and hand dexterity to handle and manipulate instruments and equipment.
  • Visual and auditory acuity.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of fifteen (15) lbs. and be able to carry objects.
  • Must be able to push and pull carts, and continuously walk, sit and stand.
  • Must be able to turn, crouch, kneel, stoop, bend below waist, and reach above shoulder height as tasks dictate.
  • Must use good body mechanics.
  • Stamina to make visits to residents throughout the community.
  • Occasional pushing or pulling, assisting of residents weighing (~150 lbs.).
  • Have the ability to occasionally push an occupied wheelchair for a distance of up to 200 feet.
  • Must project a positive attitude towards the service provided.
  • Associate may be subject to potential exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials, and to handling hazardous chemicals (either Category 1 or 2).

  • Previous Med Tech Experience Required
  • Experience in caring for seniors with Alzheimers disease or other forms of Dementia is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Dispense unit dose medications, making the required record entries at appropriate times, and making the appropriate notifications to the nurse concerning self-administered medications (as specified by state regulations and Community Policy and Procedure).
  • Order and receive medications per State regulation and LCB policies and procedures.
  • Assisting the Residents with the Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including toileting, dressing, bathing, eating and walking; as described in the service plan.
  • Monitors for changes in resident needs, preferences and health status. Reports/documents any noticed changes at once to the RN or designee.
  • Assisting Residents with clothing and laundry needs as per the service plan.
  • Supervise or assist Residents with activity programs.
  • Assisting Residents in going to bed at night, when necessary.
  • Assisting Residents with keeping their units neat, clean and orderly.
  • Answering emergency calls and attending to the Residents needs promptly.
  • All MAs/LMNAs/MTs are required to participate in the community's regularly scheduled on-going in- service training programs.
  • Upon request of the Resident Care Director, MAs/LMNAs/MTs shall participate in specialized staff training programs and mandatory education requirements dictated by state regulations.
  • Assists with escorting residents to meals and activities as needed.
  • Documents both scheduled and unscheduled service that are provided, including incidents, behaviors, and out of the ordinary events, including a residents refusal of services.
  • Inputs information in to the community computer tracking system regarding services provided to residents.
  • Conducts and facilitates programming, including therapeutic groups and individual interaction, that offer cognitive stimulation, socialization, physical activity and spiritual connection.
