This position is responsible for identifying and understanding various medication assistance programs, assisting patients with paperwork for enrollment forms, and managing the tracking and re-ordering of patient assistance medications. The specialist will also obtain pre-authorizations from insurance companies for prescribed medications, communicate with providers, insurance companies, and pharmacies, and document information in the EHR. Additionally, the role requires knowledge of insurance companies' preferred medication lists, handling telephone calls, maintaining competency, treating patients with respect, and performing basic office machine maintenance.
