About The Position

This full-time position is for a Medication History Pharmacy Technician Specialist I at High Point Medical Center, working the 2nd shift (3:00 PM - 11:30 PM). The schedule involves 8-hour days with an 8 on, 6 off rotation, including every other weekend and holiday rotation. The role requires completing area-specific work according to standard processes and policies, serving as an expert with equipment and technology, and problem-solving technical issues. The technician will ensure accurate and timely documentation, support communication with patients and care teams, identify quality improvement opportunities, and contribute to operational changes and standardization. Participation in specialized work teams and committees is expected, along with staying current with field changes and adopting best practices. The role also involves contributing to pharmacy department initiatives and assisting other pharmacy teammates when workload dictates.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• For technicians in NC with validating technician responsibilities- an associate’s degree in pharmacy technology is required.
• Typically requires 3 years of experience in health care, insurance industry, pharmacy, or medical background.
• Excellent oral, written, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
• Must be able to speak and be understood by others to communicate effectively.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Basic math skills.
• Organizational skills and analytical ability to prepare reports and reconcile reports correctly.
• Ability to evaluate and measure customer needs – set clear standards to ensure needs are met.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
• Self-discipline and attention to detail.
• Working PC knowledge including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook), Internet, and general Call Center Systems.
• Registration/Licensure with state board of pharmacy per state of employment requirements.
• Certification through Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (CPhT) or National Health Career Association (ExCPT).

Nice To Haves

• Associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
• Strong background in medical terminology preferred.

• Accepts assignments of tasks from other pharmacy teammate roles when workload dictates.
