About The Position

The Medication History Pharmacy Technician is a certified pharmacy technician who supports the patient care team by obtaining and documenting an accurate list of medications taken at home and in an outpatient medical setting for patients being admitted to the hospital and patients receiving surgical care at IU Health Arnett Hospital. This role involves conducting thorough interviews with patients and their families, as well as contacting outpatient pharmacies, long-term care facilities, and other healthcare providers to verify medication information. The technician enters the good faith effort medication list in the electronic medical record, ensuring accuracy and completeness in accordance with organizational standards and is available for pharmacists, providers, nurses, and other healthcare providers to support treatment planning, medication orders during hopsitalization, and post-discharge care.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of recent retail experience preferred.
  • Absence of criminal history related to the ability to work with drugs.
  • Strong mathematical calculation skills.
  • Working knowledge and skills as a pharmacy technician in assigned areas and ability to work within established procedures under moderate supervision.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective customer service skills.
  • Intermediate proficiency typing and using Microsoft Office applications.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Indiana Pharmacy Technician License OR intern/extern license if enrolled in accredited college of pharmacy.
  • Pharmacy Technician National Certification required unless enrolled in accredited college of pharmacy.
